Description
A spider’s lace, moonlit petals, and a Salamis parhassus glimmering like it flew straight out of a constellation. Its wings catch the light with that quiet iridescent glow, as if it was meant to live in a frame full of stars. A little piece of the night sky, held still just long enough to admire.
This forest mother-of-pearl butterfly is a species of Nymphalidae butterfly found in forested areas of Africa. The name “Salamis” comes from Greek mythology, referring to a daughter of the river gods Asopus and Metope.
