Description
These orb weaver spiders are delicately pinned into a heart shape just like in my viral Instagram video, their usually intimidating forms softened into something unexpectedly sweet. Set against a deep black scientific frame, they become a quiet little symbol of symmetry, curiosity, and charm. Custom frame styles are available upon request, and each piece is made to order. Please allow up to one week for creation prior to shipment and be sure to order early for the holidays.
About the Species:
The Giant Golden Orb Weaver (Nephila pilipes) is native to Southeast Asia, Australia, and the wider Indo-Pacific, famous for spinning massive golden-tinted webs that shimmer in sunlight. Females are dramatically larger than males, reaching body lengths of up to 50 mm with leg spans nearing 20 cm, while males stay under 6 mm. Despite their size and their ability to catch large insects or even the occasional small vertebrate, they are gentle, non-aggressive spiders and are considered harmless to humans. Their vivid coloration and intricate web structures make them one of the most visually striking spiders in the world.
